As great as some of these movies are, you are missing the OG....Alien. One of the best space and horror movies ever.
I have over 400 films in my movie collection including Alien and Aliens thus know they are great.

Has anyone seen the Movie The Dish which is based on a True story with comedic elements enjoys a 96% Rotten Tomatoes rating and Roger Ebert gives it a 3 1/2 rating.

It is about the 1969 Apollo Moon landing event.

Nobody has mentioned my two favorites: Apollo 13 and Galaxy Quest.

Apollo 13 is the most accurate space movie ever made. It could have been boring under some directors, but it turned out to be epic. If you can find the commentary track with the real Jim and Marilyn Lovell, it's well worth listening to.

Galaxy Quest is technically a parody of Star Trek (The Original Series), but even Trekkies agree that it belongs on the official list of the best Star Trek movies. It's not just hilarious; it also has a well-constructed plot.

Good choices and have both in my movie library actually believe that Apollo 13 was best picture that year because many knew the outcome before watching it yet be transfixed by it anyway, that is good movie making!
Interesting!

Here are a few more that are here:

Three IMAX films:
* Cosmic Voyage, narrated by Morgan Freeman
* Space Station, narrated by Tom Cruise
* L5 FIRST CITY IN SPACE

And this one with a long title, part of which is:

Isaac Asimov presents
Voyage to the Outer Planets and Beyond

accompanied by music "The Planets" by Gustav Holst
and extras including a Space Almanac 1987 -2001 (on old style computer paper)
with a full color NASA Brochure
It's a VHS cassette
There are lot more to list I hope members add more in time will post a few more myself soon.
